So, are we really changing guards? Nahh, of course we are not. But from the information available, it seems that the Joomla! project is getting ready for another major release while the end is in sight for Joomla! 1.0.

Opera has launched a site in association with the Yahoo! Developer Network to help you out with working with Web Standards. Besides being a great source of information for already Web Standards aware designers you can take it as a complete course to learn standards-based development.
It already has support from many organizations (including Yahoo! and the Web Standards Project) and universities.

Rights and permissions, we can't envision the world of computer systems without it. Opening your secure email account, or sharing information with friends over community websites, rights and permissions are everywhere. With a history in designing directories, I'm always interested how systems deal with rights. Now why would my first blog entry be about rights and permissions? This week, it seems lots of time has been spent working with and looking at system rights.

Mozilla Labs launched a new group that is focused on the developer community and the tools they use. They see a bright future for tools and services to increase developer productivity, enable compelling user experiences, and promote the use of open standards.
There are many developer tools/extensions already for Firefox, the preferred browser for many developers and hopefully this initiative will bring even more great tools to use.

This was my view past weekend when I woke up preparing for the Hungarian Joomla!day...what a picture to wake up with :-D
I try to blog on a regular basis on the Joomla! community site on all kinds of topics at hand (let's foobar around). A report about my visit to the Hungarian Joomla! day was posted yesterday, and in this blog I want to go into more detail on my session for that day.
My session was the last one for the day, and everyone who sometimes attends an event knows people are getting tired, for sure when your are put into a room with about 100 people. I knew that I had the last session of that dat, so I already decided upfront to take a different approach doing it un-conference style

Today we've started adding our personal introductions to the site to introduce ourselves a little and we found out that building the complete site is more easy (thanks Joomla!) than writing about yourself. There is only one thing more difficult we think and that is providing a nice picture of yourself so we will add those later. While Tonie is going trough all his wedding pictures looking for the coolest one, Anthony is just looking everywhere he can being scared we will choose and add one for him.
